The 82nd Annual Long Beach Sea Festival 2013 launches on Saturday, June 1st, with its first-ever “Kickoff Extravaganza,” featuring events, displays and fun activities to highlight all of the great Sea Festival events coming this summer. The Extravaganza includes food trucks, live music, arts & crafts for the kids, jumpers, “Bubble Fun” and face painting. Don’t forget to bring your beach chairs and blankets! The Sea Festival also encompasses several major cultural and food festivals, including the Pirate Invasion (June 29-30) at Belmont Pier, the Dragon Boat Festival and competition (July 27-28) in Marine Stadium, the Long Beach BBQ Festival (Aug. 17-18) in Rainbow Lagoon Park, Taste of Brewing Festival (Aug. 24) at Lighthouse Park, and always a whole family favorite, Lobster Festival (Sept. 6-7) in Rainbow Lagoon Park.
July, 2013 also marks the return of the biannual Trans-Pacific Yacht Race, one of the most prestigious and challenging sailing races in the world. Every two years, three categories of sailing yachts, expert captains and crews converge on Long Beach’s Rainbow Harbor for the start of this incredible race across the vast Pacific Ocean to Hawaii.
